The ProX 2WX is unparalleled in its innovation and components.
Besides the generous copper plating on the coil with a cross-section greater than 1mm, the high-quality MKP high-pass capacitor is rated for up to 400V and far exceeds the norm.
The high-pass and low-pass sections are completely independent and connected via solid gold jumpers on the sides. This results in a parallel connection of the sections. These jumpers can be removed, separating the individual crossover sections. This separation gives each section its own input, allowing it to be operated with its own amplifier in a bi-wiring configuration. This is essential if you want to use digital time correction while retaining the charm and sound of a passive crossover.
But that's not all. The beautiful ProX 2WX passive crossover is also designed to be split in the middle if needed. This will test the limits of any sensibility and philosophies. By splitting the sections, they are completely isolated and can be positioned and installed differently within the vehicle. The division is made possible by a dedicated milled groove in the center of the circuit board, which is then bridged by the jumpers.
The underlying principle is the understanding that whatever components are used in the signal path will, figuratively speaking, obstruct the signal flow from the amplifier, thus slowing its progress. This leads to the desire to position the components as close as possible to the speakers to minimize this effect. If the high-pass and low-pass sections can be built and divided separately, the distance to the tweeter or midrange driver can be even shortened during installation.
This is certainly far removed from any visually appealing installation aesthetic.
Admittedly, anyone holding this crossover in their hands faces a real dilemma with this decision and needs considerable conviction in what they are doing.
