In the early years, SHX or our EXCURSION HIFI POWER series was simply the tuned version of our successful SX or our EXCURSION STREET series and only available as a 6.5" 2-way system. Intelligently, with a lower moving mass and more motor power, we had significantly improved the efficiency and resolution in the transition area to the tweeter and used natural wool fibers combined with relatively coarse glass fiber strips to create a material that best implements the properties of solid bass reproduction with actual authenticity or naturally realistic reproduction, with a clear distance to the materials most commonly used on the market.
It was only recently, after a phase of fundamental changes, that we were able to return to the compact class with our emblematic GTI. This meant that we were able to further expand the HIFI POWER series with the 5.25" and 4" DIN size 2way component systems and with independent 2-way passive crossovers. With a little courage, a coaxial series followed, and this one in all three sizes, after which an SHX-8M was finally added as a 8" DIN woofer/midrange speaker to satisfy everyone from VW to Porsche.
Both series now and in the future share the same platform in the high frequency range of the component systems. For our SX-1S, from the 2nd generation STREET series, the interaction with the tuned HIFI POWER series or the SHX woofers/midrange speakers is no challenge and is a price/performance breaker.
Since the STREET series will now be expanded in spring 2025 to include the 3rd generation SX-1S, which is now much softer and has a deeper coupling and focuses on the properties of the STREET series woofers/midrange drivers, the question arose as to why not make a comparable effort to achieve the properties of the HIFI POWER woofers/midrange drivers and also include a SHX-1S tweeter focused on them in the range for individual purchase. Since STREET and HIFI POWER woofers/midrange drivers are available individually and are still offered as components with the 2nd generation SX-1S, the possibility of purchasing the more specific tweeters individually in both series can result in so-called PRO components or, if necessary, enable owners of SX and SHX systems to make an upgrade that is manageable in terms of effort.
This brings the story full circle - if you're still reading this - and it has already been explained what the focused properties of an SHX-1S tweeter are, which is certainly not an even deeper coupling of a HIFI POWER series tuned in the transition area, but rather pure speed and the associated resolution. We have also poached in the REFERENCE series kit and shortened the way up with a dome that is at least largely similar. With a good centimeter and one of the smallest installation depths on the market, another quality is added to the range and finally with matching ABS plastic construction globes and typical EXCURSION know-how from the SQ competition, it is once again implemented in previously impossible price ranges.
